Food is more than sustenance; it is a map of human migration, a testament to the soil, and the most intimate way we experience a new culture. When we talk about Discover Flavours, we aren’t just talking about ingredients—we are talking about the soul of a destination.
Why Flavours?
We chose flavours as our fourth category for this edition of Discover Europe because the kitchen is where history is kept alive. In Europe, food is the heartbeat of our culture and the most intimate way we share our identity. Across the continent, recipes are the maps of our ancestors, showing how we build our cities around markets and pause our days for a shared meal.
A Story in Every Ingredient
European food is a living history of resilience and adaptation. A perfect example is the potato. It didn’t originate in Europe, but once it arrived, it changed everything. It provided a lifeline for millions and became the heart of countless traditional dishes.
In Poland, it is impossible to imagine the culture without the comforting warmth of placki or the soul of a pieróg. This shows exactly what we celebrate in this category: how a simple ingredient can be adopted, perfected, and turned into a beloved national heritage.
Where Tradition Meets the Table
Every ingredient in the European pantry tells a story of craftsmanship. We are looking for the creators of culture the hands that keep traditions alive in small-town kitchens and the experts who have spent decades perfecting the tastes of their region. To capture these flavours is to capture the very essence of how we celebrate being together.

Photography: Tasting with the Eyes
How do you capture a flavour in a photo? You look for the texture of a crusty baguette, the vibrancy of sun-ripened tomatoes, and the emotion in the hands of a grandmother kneading dough.
In the Discover Flavours category, we aren’t just looking for an “appealing plate of food.” We are looking for the atmosphere of the table—the universal language of hospitality that needs no translation. A single image can make a viewer feel the warmth of a kitchen half a continent away.
The Shared Table: Your Voice, Your Vote
The most beautiful part of this culinary journey is that it belongs to everyone. Because flavour is subjective and rooted in our own memories, we invite you to be the judge.
Submit your photographs that truly embodies the flavours of Europe where every frame tells a story of tradition, taste, and community.
